Terms and Conditions

Standard Terms and Conditions of Professional and Continuing Education Courses

The Ohio State University offers Professional and Continuing Education courses through its registration system only under the following Terms and Conditions. If you are unable to agree to and accept any of these terms, you should not register for courses at this time. 
 

Technology Requirements 

A computer or mobile device with reliable internet connection is required to participate in online courses. Some courses may have additional requirements that necessitate the use of a computer and specific software. In some instances, you may need a particular type of computing device for use during the course (e.g., tablet, Windows PC, MacBook) which is not provided by Ohio State. Some courses may require additional technology tools or software (e.g., Zoom, webcam, microphone, Microsoft Office, etc.). Please see the course registration page for course specific information prior to registering and for the most appropriate contact for technology and course content questions. 
 

Non-Credit Courses and Certificates 

Professional and Continuing Education courses and certificates are classified as non-academic credit, continuing education credentials. They do not provide credit toward an academic program. In some cases, Continuing Education Units (CEUs), Professional Development Units (PDUs), Continuing Education Credit (CEC), Competency Assessment Units (CAUs), or Graduate Extension Credits may be offered.  Please see the course registration page for course specific information prior to registering. Refund, Transfer, and Cancellation Policy 

Refunds 

  • No Refunds for Active Courses: No refunds will be issued for active courses that begin immediately upon registration.
  • Refunds for Future Courses: Refund requests will be honored up to 3 days after registration and prior to the start of the course, subject to a 20% processing fee. All refund requests are subject to review.

Transfers 

At this time transfers from one course or section to another are not permitted. Essentially, funds cannot be credited to your account for access to another course at this time. Please refer to refund policy. 

Cancellation 

Professional and Continuing Education at The Ohio State University may occasionally cancel or reschedule courses due to low enrollment or other unanticipated events.  

  • If your course is canceled, Enrollment Support will contact you at least one business day prior to the course start and a refund will be provided in full. 
  • If your course is rescheduled, Enrollment Support will contact you to verify your availability for the new dates. If you are no longer able to participate, a refund will be provided in full.

Warranties 

Courses are offered “As Is” and “As Available” and The Ohio State University makes no warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including without limitation any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Ohio State further makes no warranties that the course will be offered error-free or without interruption. 
 

 

Force Majeure 

Ohio State shall not be liable for any delay, cancellation, or failure to perform or make timely services available if such delay, cancellation, or failure is due to any cause beyond the control of The Ohio State University, including without limitation restrictions of law or regulations, labor disputes, acts of God, acts of terrorism or war, plague, epidemic, pandemic, outbreaks of infectious disease or any other public health crisis, including quarantine or other employee restrictions, act of government authority whether lawful or unlawful, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction, telecommunications, network or power failures or interruptions, or mechanical or electronic breakdowns. 
 

 

Indemnification 

You shall indemnify, and save and hold harmless The Ohio State University, its Board of Trustees, officers, agents, and employees from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, or causes of actions and costs of any nature or character, including attorney fees, arising from your acts or omissions in connection with its performance of this Agreement, or the failure to comply with its terms, except where the claims, demands, actions, or causes of actions are solely the result of the gross negligence or wanton misconduct of The Ohio State University, its Board of Trustees, officers, agents, and employees. 
 

 

Limit of Liability 

To the furthest extent permitted by law, under no circumstances will The Ohio State University be liable or responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses or damages, irrespective of whether Ohio State has been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage. In addition, and to the furthest extent permitted by law, liability of Ohio State to you for any claims relating to this agreement, whether for breach or in tort, will not exceed the amount paid by you to The Ohio State University in the twelve (12) month period preceding the date the claim arose. 
 

 

Governing Law 

This Agreement shall be governed by, construed, and enforced in accordance with, the laws of the State of Ohio.
